1. Why this consent notice exists

QookMe can work without disease-related information. However, some optional personalisation features may ask you to provide health-related or disease-related information, such as allergies, intolerances, dietary restrictions, medical conditions, health goals, pregnancy-related dietary needs, or other information that may affect meal planning.

This notice explains what you are consenting to if you choose to provide that information.

2. Important medical disclaimer

QookMe is not a medical device, healthcare service, dietitian service, diagnostic tool, or emergency service.

QookMe does not diagnose, treat, prevent, monitor, or cure disease. Any recipe, nutrition, allergy, diet, macro, calorie, or health-related suggestion is for general informational and personalisation purposes only.

If you have a medical condition, allergy, intolerance, eating disorder, pregnancy-related need, prescribed diet, or other health concern, you should consult a qualified doctor, dietitian, nutritionist, allergist, or other healthcare professional before relying on QookMe suggestions.

In an emergency, contact local emergency services.

3. Information this consent may cover

If you choose to provide it, QookMe may process information such as:

  • Food allergies or intolerances.
  • Dietary restrictions, such as gluten-free, lactose-free, low-sodium, vegetarian, vegan, halal, or other preferences.
  • Disease-related dietary needs, such as diabetes-related, hypertension-related, coeliac-related, kidney-related, heart-related, or other condition-related preferences.
  • Health goals, such as weight management, macro tracking, calorie targets, or nutrition goals.
  • Pregnancy, breastfeeding, age-related, or household needs that affect meal planning.
  • Meal photos, recipe history, inventory data, and food consumption patterns that may reveal health-related information.

This may be special category personal data under UK GDPR or EU GDPR.

4. What we use this information for

We use health-related and disease-related information only to provide optional QookMe features, such as:

  • Personalising recipe suggestions.
  • Avoiding ingredients you tell us are unsuitable.
  • Prioritising recipes based on dietary restrictions or health goals.
  • Estimating calories, macros, or nutrition information where available.
  • Improving safety warnings, reminders, and personalisation logic.

We do not use this information to provide medical diagnosis or clinical treatment.

5. Who may process this information

SIU Labs Ltd uses this information through QookMe systems to operate the Service and provide optional personalisation.

We do not sell your health-related or disease-related information.

6. Your consent

By ticking the health information consent checkbox or otherwise giving explicit consent in the QookMe app, you confirm that:

  • You understand that QookMe is not a medical or healthcare service.

  • You consent to SIU Labs Ltd processing that information to personalise QookMe features.
  • You understand that AI-generated outputs may be inaccurate or incomplete.
  • You understand that you should verify food suitability, ingredients, allergens, and dietary advice yourself or with a qualified professional.

Suggested checkbox wording:

I explicitly consent to SIU Labs Ltd processing my health-related, allergy, intolerance, dietary, and disease-related information to personalise QookMe. I understand QookMe does not provide medical advice and I can withdraw my consent at any time.

This checkbox should be separate from general Terms acceptance and should not be pre-ticked.

You may withdraw consent at any time by:

  • Changing your app privacy or health personalisation settings, where available.
  • Deleting the relevant health-related profile information.
  • Contacting hello@qookme.com.

Withdrawal does not affect processing that happened before withdrawal. After withdrawal, we will stop using health-related or disease-related information for optional personalisation unless another lawful basis applies. We may need to retain limited records where required for legal, security, dispute, or audit purposes.

9. Accuracy and safety

You are responsible for keeping your profile accurate and up to date. Incorrect or incomplete information may produce unsuitable suggestions.

Always check:
